Privacy Policy
Effective July 15, 2026. Chaser Dot is operated by Hall Enterprises ("we", "us"). This page says what we collect, why, and how to get it deleted — in plain words, because that's how we write everything.
What we collect
- Your Discord account basics. Logging in uses Discord OAuth. We receive your Discord user ID, username/display name, avatar, and your roles in the Ryan Hall, Y'all Discord server (that's how beta access works). We never see your Discord password, email, or private messages.
- Your waitlist email. If you join the waitlist we store the email address you typed, when you joined, and which page you signed up from. It's used for gate news and beta invites only — never sold, never shared for marketing.
- Your gameplay. Character state (position on the game map, money, EXP, skills, items, chase logs, photos, cards), chat messages, and moderation reports. This is the game itself — it lives on our servers.
- Technical basics. IP addresses and request logs, used for security, rate-limiting, and abuse prevention. The desktop app creates a random install ID and reports its platform, app version, release, and first-launch time so we can count real launches and connect one safely to a later sign-in. It is not a hardware fingerprint; clearing the app's data creates a new ID. Our error tracking records what broke, including the browser and app versions, not who you are.
What's public by design
Chaser Dot is an MMO — some of your play is visible to everyone, in the game and on this site: your display name, callsign, level, profile, highscores, crew membership, research bases (with your display name), and your dot's position on the shared game map. The public world map on this site shows online chasers as anonymous dots at reduced precision — no names attached. If you'd rather not be seen at all, the game is probably not for you (yet — we may add a privacy toggle later).
What we never do
- We don't sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
- We don't run third-party ad trackers.
- We don't ask for — or want — your real name, address, or precise real-world location. Your dot's position is game state, not your GPS.
Cookies
Signed first-party cookies on .chaserdot.com keep you logged in, protect login state, and briefly connect a desktop app's first launch to the account that signs in afterward. Cloudflare may set its own security cookies. Our web analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) is cookie-less. No tracking pixels, no cross-site advertising.
Who touches the data (processors)
We run on a small set of services that process data on our behalf: Cloudflare (network, security, Turnstile bot-check, cookie-less analytics), Discord (login), Resend (sending waitlist email), Hetzner (server hosting), and Mapbox (map tiles in the game client). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
Retention & deletion
Game data lives as long as your account does (beta wipes may reset it sooner). Waitlist emails live until you're invited or ask off the list. Want out entirely? You can delete your account yourself, permanently and immediately, from your account page — it erases your character, progress, and the Discord identity link on the spot. Prefer we do it? Email [email protected] from the address (or with the Discord ID) in question and we'll delete your account data — character, waitlist entry, the lot — within 30 days, minus anything we're required to keep for security or legal reasons.
Age
Chaser Dot is for players 13 and up. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — if you believe a child under 13 has an account, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll say so on the news page and update the date at the top. Questions? [email protected] or the Discord.
